Diabetes & Blood Pressure
Long-term control, reviewed properly rather than repeated
Diabetes and hypertension are managed over years, not in one appointment, so the practice runs them as a review cycle rather than a repeat prescription. Each review looks at the numbers, the medicines and the side effects you are actually having, and at the checks that catch complications while they are still reversible: kidney function, cholesterol, eyes and feet. Medicines are adjusted, added or stopped on the evidence in front of us. Nothing is continued for years simply because it is already on the list.
- A scheduled review cycle instead of a prescription handed over at a counter
- Kidney, cholesterol, eye and foot checks tracked so none is quietly skipped
- Medicines stopped when they are no longer earning their place
- Diet and activity advice built around what you actually eat and do
What to expect
- 01
Baseline review
Full history, examination, bloods and a look at every medicine you are currently taking.

Adjust and monitor
Targets agreed with you, doses changed where needed, and a date set to check whether it worked.
- 03
Annual complication checks
Kidneys, cholesterol, eyes and feet reviewed on a schedule so nothing is missed between visits.
Common questions
- How often will I need to come in?
- Usually every three to six months once things are stable, and more often while a medicine is being changed. You will leave each visit knowing when the next one is and why.
- Can I just collect my usual prescription?
- Short renewals are possible, but a long-term medicine should be reviewed rather than repeated indefinitely. A review is how we catch the dose that stopped being right two years ago.
- Do I have to bring my home readings?
- Please do. A week of home blood pressure or sugar readings is far more useful than a single measurement taken in a clinic, when you are already anxious.
