Common blood work, urine tests and routine screening are taken in the clinic, so an investigation does not turn into a separate trip to a laboratory. Results come back to the doctor who ordered them and are explained by that doctor, in context, rather than handed over as a sheet of numbers to interpret at home. Tests are ordered when the result would change what happens next. A test that cannot change the plan is not worth your money, and you will be told that instead.

Common questions
- How long do results take?
- Routine blood work is usually back the same day or the next morning. Anything sent to a specialist laboratory takes longer and you will be told when to expect it.
- Do I need to fast?
- For some tests, including cholesterol and fasting sugar. You will be told exactly what is needed when the test is booked, so nobody arrives having eaten by mistake.
- Can I get a test without seeing a doctor?
- For a few routine screening tests, yes. For anything else, a short consultation first is what makes the result meaningful rather than confusing.
